Why treat rust before coating?

Applying a coating over untreated rust is one of the most common — and costly — mistakes in roof restoration. Rust continues to spread beneath the coating, causing blistering, peeling, and premature failure. Our Rust Converter neutralises the problem at the source, giving your roof coating system a clean, stable foundation and ensuring your investment in a quality topcoat actually performs as it should.

How to use

Clean the surface — remove loose rust, dirt, and debris with a wire brush or scraper. For best results, treat with Muckoff first to eliminate any biological growth.
Apply the Rust Converter — brush evenly onto all rusted areas, ensuring full coverage. The product will darken as it reacts with the iron oxide.
Allow to cure — leave to dry fully before applying any topcoat. Refer to the product data sheet for specific drying times based on temperature and humidity.
Apply your topcoat — once cured, apply your chosen Speciality Coatings roof coating or protective system for long-lasting corrosion protection.
